Overbuild and the Ideal Lifts Frame System

Overbuild

The Government has recently called on councils to get building over railway stations.

We are very pleased to have been asked to contribute to the Linear Infrastructure Overbuild Guide commissioned by Buildoffsite.

The report was inspired by WSP’s ‘Out of Thin Air – Building over London’s rail lines’ report and the subsequent ‘Out of Thin Air – One year on’, it aims to do 3 things:

  1. Make more potential sites viable, creating homes and offsite project opportunities
  2. Enable stakeholders to consider how to unlock more of this potential
  3. Help more developers and suppliers to be involved with infrastructure overbuild

The reports identify the opportunities overbuild offers as a way forward with the acute housing shortage the UK is facing.

The lightweight Ideal Lifts Frame System weighing 95% less than pre-cast lift shafts, designed for MMC, is also perfect for rail overbuild projects and existing buildings which need to be extended vertically.

Offsite Collaboration – Residential Hub

Offsite Collaboration – Residential Hub

Frame System Presentation

Ideal Lifts MD Gary Bright & Director David Whorwood were invited by BUILDOFFSITE to join the Residential debate.

Challenging traditional thinking and disrupt the processes and complexities of conventional bespoke lift shaft construction on offsite projects. How ongoing collaboration with other members utilising our Ideal Lifts Frame System within the supply chain can simplify and improve the design, processes, management and safety of lift design, installation and maintenance.

Frame mounted passenger lifts negate the need for traditional concrete lift shaft construction, benefiting OFFSITE:

  • Speeds up construction to deliver the project earlier to the market
  • Removes reliance on expensive skilled labour on site
  • Cost certainty with no waste
  • Very light weight compared to heavy concrete shafts vastly reducing foundation costs
  • Ideal lift frame includes for everything required for lift installation, all lifting beams, pit ladder and does not require scaffolding, building in of specialist inserts along with many other benefits
  • Enables our clients to provide a much-simplified lift shaft which is designed for OFFSITE manufacture, with fire lining that can be completed prior to site assembly, no on site cutting and patching required
  • Requiring no landing rebates, simplifying construction on and OFFSITE maintaining full fire integrity
