Lift Pit Oil Water Separator Unit

Is your lift pit regularly flooding?

A flooding lift pit can also result in expensive damage to vital lift equipment, resulting in an out-of-service lift and posing a serious work hazard.

Using sump pumps in the lift pit has always represented an environmental hazard, as they can discharge oil-contaminated water away from the lift shaft pit, which can have devastating effects on local ecosystems and public health.

Oil Water Separator Unit

Ideal Lifts has partnered with Oil Water Stop to deliver an innovative solution for customers who experience regular flooding and water ingress in their lift pits.

The Oil Water Stop lift pump system was engineered to safely separate residual oil content from water that has pooled in the base of the lift shaft, ensuring the oil concentration is reduced to below one part per million.

The Oil Water Separator unit is self-sufficient, removing the need to arrange costly periodic lift pit water pumping.

By choosing this innovative solution, you’re not only providing a safeguard for your lift equipment,  but you’re also reducing on site safety hazards and protecting the environment from harmful pollutants.

Helping to maintain environmental compliance, the oil water separator splits the water and oil, helping you comply with your ISO 14001 environmental management system and avoid fines of up to £20,000 under the Water Resources Act 1991, which mandates strict controls over the discharge of oily water into natural watercourses and drainage systems.

After your unit is installed, our engineers carry out all maintenance and necessary services in line with our routine lift service visits. If you would like any further information on how this system can save you considerable costs, please contact us.

Why an oil water separator outperforms traditional lift pit tanking

Traditional Lift Pit Tanking

Traditional waterproofing or tanking is expensive, slow, and unreliable. When it fails, it means disruption, costly repairs, and downtime.

Our oil water separator system offers a smarter solution. It automatically removes and filters water, safely discharging it into the drain — keeping your lift pit dry and compliant.

It’s quick to install and easy to maintain, continuously managing water ingress to prevent flooding.

No more standing water, corrosion, or odours — just a safer, compliant lift pit that meets today’s environmental and drainage standards.

Less hassle. Less downtime. Less cost. More peace of mind.

FAQs

It collects ingress water from the flooded lift pit, separates the oils, grease and contaminants from the water, and then safely discharges the clean water into the drain without polluting the environment.

Power consumption will largely depend on the frequency of the pump’s operation. However, as a rough estimate, the pump is unlikely to run for more than five minutes per hour – so even with continuous operation, its maximum usage would be 0.9 kWh per day.

We offer a 24-month warranty on the unit and labour for extra peace of mind.

Yes, it enables you to dispose of the water in compliance with the ISO 14001 environmental management system and the Water Resources Act 1991.

Unattended water ingress into the lift pit represents a serious health and safety hazard, as well as causing corrosion to lift steelwork and damage to electrical systems, ultimately resulting in costly repairs and lift downtime.

The whole unit can be installed, up and running within a single day, keeping downtime to a minimum. In comparison, lift pit tanking can take well over a week depending on preparation work required and the condition and the size of the lift pit.

Yes, yearly maintenance is required including removal and correct disposal of the separated oils. We carry the necessary certification to handle this for you and can combine the maintenance of the unit within your regular lift maintenance schedule.
